We are excited to be welcoming students back to college for the start of the new academic year.
The past couple of years have been disruptive for students, as the pandemic meant that we had to implement lots of different measures, at different times, to keep everyone safe.
This year we hope there will be a lot less disruption for everyone, thanks to the roll-out of the vaccination programme.
However, Covid is still with us so here are some things that we will continue to do, as we think they are sensible and help to keep everyone protected:
Testing
As everyone returns to campus after the summer break, we will be encouraging everyone to take a lateral flow test (LFDs) that will be available in classrooms. This will allow us to identify anyone who may have Covid, but isn’t symptomatic, and take the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe.
We will also continue to offer test kits for everyone to take home and use twice a week, which will allow us to catch any early infections and prevent you from passing it onto others. These test results will need to be logged via the NHS site (if negative) and through both the NHS site and Activate Learning’s own reporting form if it’s positive.
Face coverings
Although face coverings are something that the Government no longer requires students to wear do in classrooms, we will continue to ask people to wear them in communal areas around the college.
Cleaning
Throughout the pandemic we’ve worked hard to ensure that all communal areas and classrooms are cleaned more often and used special hydrostatic spraying to provide longer lasting protection. We plan to keep doing this as we want to provide the cleanest, safest environment possible for people to learn in.
Hand washing and sanitisers
Good hand hygiene is something that has been so important to keeping everyone safe over the past 18 months, and it’s something we will continue to encourage. Regular hand washing will continue to be advised, and hand sanitisers will continue to be placed throughout our colleges for people to use.
We’ve worked hard over the course of the pandemic to keep everyone as safe as possible and will continue to do so as we move into the new year, providing everyone with a safe environment to learn in.
