Activate Learning celebrates Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 | #ActivateTakesAction

At Activate Learning, mental health is more than a conversation – it’s a commitment.

Last year, we came together to celebrate the power of community, recognising that connection, belonging and shared experiences are vital to our wellbeing. Across our campuses, students and staff took part in wellbeing fairs, creative workshops, mindfulness sessions and community events that helped people feel supported and less alone.

This year, we’re building on that momentum.

From community to action

In 2026, the theme is simple: Take Action.

Because while community creates support, action creates change.

Mental Health Awareness Week is organised by the Mental Health Foundation, with the aim to end the stigma surrounding mental health and spread awareness to the community.

Our campaign, #ActivateTakesAction, is about empowering every individual to take small, meaningful steps to improve their wellbeing – and support others to do the same.

Throughout the week, we’ll be encouraging students, staff and families to commit to one action a day, inspired by Mind’s Five ways to wellbeing. This will help everyone take responsibility for their physical, mental, social and financial wellbeing.

Take action this Mental Health Awareness Week

This Mental Health Awareness Week, each day focuses on a different way to take action:

Monday | Move

Start the week by getting active.

Movement plays a powerful role in improving mood, focus and overall wellbeing. Even small bursts of activity can make a difference. You can take action by:

  • Joining a campus walk or wellbeing activity
  • Exploring nature and green spaces
  • Trying a new form of exercise

Last year’s activities encouraged people to come together – this year, we’re taking that energy and turning it into personal action.

Tuesday | Connect

Strengthen your support network.

In 2025, we saw the impact of connection – from wellbeing fairs to community partnerships that brought people together and reduced isolation.

Now, it’s your turn to take action by:

  • Attending a campus coffee morning
  • Joining a club or Students’ Union activity
  • Spending quality time with friends

Throughout the week, there’s so many opportunities to connect with your peers – so please do get involved!

Wednesday | Speak up

Your voice drives change.

Mental Health Awareness Week has always been about breaking stigma and encouraging open conversations.

This year, we’re turning those conversations into action. You can take action by:

  • Sharing your ideas on campus boards
  • Joining student and staff voice sessions
  • Joining the SU or becoming a student ambassador
  • Telling us: What should we do next to improve wellbeing?

See how your feedback shapes real change across Activate Learning and see how we continue to evolve our Mental Health Strategy.

Thursday | Rest

Pause, recharge and recover.

During busy periods – especially exams – rest is essential for maintaining mental wellbeing.

Last year, many valued the chance to slow down and reflect and this year, we’re making rest an intentional action. You can take action by:

  • Visiting VR and immersive wellbeing spaces
  • Taking part in calming activities like drawing, pottery and reading
  • Prioritising sleep and relaxation

Friday | Give back

Support others and your community.

Community was at the heart of 2025 – from charity partnerships to local events that brought people together.

In 2026, we’re turning that outward.

Take action by:

  • Volunteering your time
  • Supporting local community engagement initiatives
  • Taking part in campus-based activities

Positive messages written on cards
