In line with the Government’s announcement yesterday, Activate Learning colleges will now temporarily close for onsite learning to all except students with additional support needs, children of keyworkers and those sitting exams in January.
Faculties will be in contact with all students as soon as possible regarding arrangements for online lessons and further updates and revised timetables will follow this week.

Moving to online learning
Most students will now move to a remote-learning model. For some of you, this may be a newer experience having started in September and there may be some adjustment to this way of learning.
Please note, our teachers have done this before and we’re confident in our delivery of online learning. Online learning has previously been very successful and well received by students.
To avoid disruption to your education, your teachers will provide work for you via the college portals during this time. Please see the links for these below:
We want to reassure you that no one’s education will suffer as a result of these closures and teaching teams have rigorous plans in place to remotely support your classes and learning.
Online timetables that were provided for the period between Wednesday 6 January and Friday 8 January will still go ahead as planned.
What’s happening with exams?
Exam boards have not currently confirmed exam cancellations. We have spoken with the Department for Education and they’ve ensured us that as it stands, January examinations will still go ahead.
Therefore, you’ll still need to revise for and attend your upcoming exams, unless informed otherwise.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding exams, please speak to your teachers in the first instance. We will provide an additional update if there are any further changes.
Students with additional support needs and children of keyworkers
If you are a student with additional support needs or a child of a keyworker you can still come into college for onsite learning.
We will contact students with additional support needs directly this week to notify them that they are welcome to come into college.

Your wellbeing is our upmost priority, and we are doing everything we can to ensure as safe an environment as possible. Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation.
We ask that you:
- Maintain social distancing around the campus
- Wear face coverings in communal spaces around college
- Ensure good hand hygiene through regular washing and use of hand sanitisers around college
- Immediately self-isolate if you show any symptoms and report this to us as soon as possible

We will provide you with further updates as and when we have them, and we continue to work closely with Government.
